This is scary for Australia.
A division 2 side missing a key batsman (Browne), their best player (Cook), missing their premier spinner (Panesar), playing with 10 men (Browne injured) and having dropped 8 (EIGHT) first innings catches, are close to beating them!

Just took a look at the promising start to Josh Hazlewood's Test career .... 5 Tests taking 24 wickets at 19 & averaging 47 with the bat.

I forgot Stuart Law. He was there a long time
Others like Tom Moody & Brad Hodge played years in county cricket as they were unable to break into the Test team like Law. Probably played about 10 Tests between them. Could do with that depth now.

He bowled well on flat pitches at home to India and away in the Windies.
I wouldn't get too worked up either way about warm up game form. You want your batsmen to get a couple of hours in the middle and your bowlers to get some overs into them.
Not seen the game obviously but it's not unknown for bowlers to just get a bit of rythym.
A bit of mind games
Like not taking a leg spinner on holiday to Spain and then naming him in the Test team.

Could have been.
Plenty of Australians have taken the easy money on offer in county cricket.
Doesn't seem to happen quite so much now though a few more have popped up .... Finch, Maxwell, Burns, Hogan. Used to be ones like Lehmann, Waugh etc were there year after year.

I take it all in my stride. We have the Ashes sometimes (LIKE NOW AFTER ANOTHER 5-0 THRASHING) & sometimes we don't.
But we are always superior to the cunts in the bacon and egg ties.
As mentioned the other day I am actually looking forward to the next Aust team post-Haddin & this too old England style team.
